Riverside Diaries #1
This week’s teasing rainshowers have been refreshing, but the river remains low & thickly sluggish. It being my closest neighbour, I fret for it. This morning, my heart lifted to hear the full and unusual song of the dipper, so I crept up to take a peek. Having heard my creaky creepiness, he darted off, closely and flappily followed by the young heron who’s taken to opportunist lurking under the trees. As I apologised, a flash of blue shot up-river: my second kingfisher sighting in a week. Such a gift to the soul. Nature, fortunately, is made of tougher stuff 💚
